Terna Nande OLB 6' 232 Miami(OH)
By: Robert Davis
You would be hard pressed to find a more consistent playmaking linebacker than Terna Nande. He started nine games as a freshman, and posted solid numbers, with 49 tackles, five for loss, and two sacks. His sophomore season was one of the best in recent memory for a linebacker. On the year, he had 109 tackles, 20 for loss, 5.5 sacks, and four interceptions. The numbers dipped as a junior as he got more attention, but Nande still has a good year, finishing with 86 tackles, nine for loss, and 3.5 sacks. He was off to another quality season, but it ended after six games with a lacerated liver. At that point, he had 44 tackles, four for loss, and two picks.
Nande is an explosive athlete, with great closing speed. He moves fluidly all over the field, and once he makes a move to the ball, nobody will get in his way. He has the natural talent to be a playmaker in coverage, and has the nose for the football. Nande also is much stronger than his size indicates.
The lack of size is the glaring issue with Nande. He is not always able to hold up at the point of attack, a trait that will only get worse in the NFL. It also brings about durability issues, and the ability to hold up over the course of the season.
Nande projects as a weak side linebacker because he lacks the size to play anywhere else. He has the talent to be a standout at that position though. For a team needing a WLB that can cover and make plays, Nande is an excellent option in the middle rounds.
