Richard Marshall CB 5'11 189 Fresno St. Jr.
By: Robert Davis
Richard Marshall is a bit of an unknown, but only because he went to Fresno St. His performance on the field the past few seasons is on par with anyone else over the same time frame. As a freshman, Marshall picked off three passes to go along with 37 tackles. As a sophomore, he had 61 tackles and three more picks. His best season came this past season, as he again picked off three passes, but had a team leading 78 tackles. He also returned 14 kicks for 316 yards.
Marshall has shown the talent to be an all around standout at corner. He is a very good athlete, and shows the ability to turn and run with receivers down the field. He also shows the willingness and aggressiveness to support the run. His best asset though is his big play ability. Marshall has a nose for the football. Of his nine career picks, three of them were returned for touchdowns.
Even though he has solid size, Marshall is on the lean side. He could stand to add a few more pounds to better handle more physical wideouts, and in run support. He also needs a bit more experience. Even though he has played a lot, he relies a lot on his physical talent to cover guys.
Richard Marshall is a very good corner prospect, and has a lot of upside. He is a true playmaker at corner, and teams love guys who can make game changing plays. He will not get out of the second round, but he has a very good shot of cracking the first round.
