Jason Spitz OL 6'4 313 Louisville
By: Robert Davis
Jason Spitz is a very versatile and experienced lineman. He has experience all along the interior, and is a two time 2nd team Conference USA selection.
Spitz could project at a number of positions along the interior, and that versatility is his biggest asset. He could play either guard spot or center in the NFL. He has good size, and sets up quickly off the snap. He is very strong, and has the ability to neutralize defensive tackles and open up running lanes for his backs. Spitz is tough, and plays with the attitude all offensive lineman should play with.
Spitz is not a great athlete, and can be beaten by quicker defensive tackles. He does not always show the agility to adjust to stunts, and has problems picking up the defender when blocking on the move.
The ability to play multiple positions is what will attract NFL teams to Spitz. He brings great value as a reserve lineman because of that, but lacks the upside to become a premium draft pick. Spitz will probably hear his name called in the middle of Day Two, but is a player that should be able to stick on a roster and provide valuable depth.
