Greg Eslinger C 6’3 285 Minnesota
By: Robert Davis
In Eslinger’s first season at Minnesota in 2002, he moved into a starting role and he has not given it up since then. A senior now, Eslinger has started every game he has played in, 38 consecutive games. He started out with freshman All American honors, and is now a two time Playboy All American. He is arguably the top center in the college game today.
Eslinger has the type of attitude you wish every offensive lineman played with. He’s tough and will battle on every play until the whistle blows. He displays good athleticism and quickness at the center position, and moves well on the field. Eslinger is as intelligent as they come and is a great technician. He is very durable and you can count on him to show up every game.
For all the success he has had on the field, Eslinger can still be pushed around on the field. He lacks the pure bulk and strength to dominate at the point of attack, and often loses out to the bigger stronger tackles.
Greg Eslinger is one of the top center prospects in the draft. If he were bigger, he would be one of the top lineman in the draft period. As it stands, he needs to add a solid 15 to 20 pounds to erase the only question mark about his game. His ultimate draft position will depend on his ability to bulk up and get a bit stronger.
