Demetrice "Dee" Webb CB 5'11 186 Florida
By: Robert Davis
Dee Webb landed at Florida with a great deal of hype. He did not play much as a freshman, but began to show flashes as a sophomore, when he picked off three passes to go along with 61 tackles, 4.5 for loss, and had 10 passes defensed. As a junior, he had 46 tackles, and only picked off one pass, but broke up 13 passes. He also participated in track for the Gators.
Webb has the quickness, speed, and athleticism to be a standout cover corner. He can turn and cover down the field with most receivers. He also shows the willingness to break off the receiver on running plays. Webb has a nose for the football, and consistently makes plays on the football.
Webb still relies on his talent too much. He declared after his true junior season, and really only had two years of experience. He could have benefitted greatly by another year in college, but chose to leave for the NFL. He also may need to have his attitude and background looked into. No charges were filed, but he was the owner of an assault rifle that was fired into an occupied apartment, and told the cops that he would get off because he was going to make millions.
Dee Webb has all the talent to develop as a quality corner at the next level, but he has to show he's willing to put in the extra work. Had he stayed at Florida for his senior season, he could have elevated his stock as high as the first round. He still has a chance to land in the third round, but teams have to be confident that his head is in the right place.
