Daniel Bullocks S 6'1 212 Nebraska
By: Robert Davis
Bullocks became a mainstay in the Husker secondary as a sophomore, finishing the season with 69 tackles, four for loss, and two picks. As a junior he picked off a career high five passes to go with 58 tackles, four for loss, and a sack. His twin brother Josh left Nebraska after their junior season and was a second round pick of the Saints. In his only season without his brother, Daniel posted a career high 83 tackles, with four for loss, and one interception.
Daniel Bullocks is a rare safety, having the ability to play both strong and free safety in the NFL. He is a very good athlete, and shows the ability to cover down the field and make plays in coverage. He combines that with very good size and a physical style of play. Bullocks has a nose for the football and is always around the action. He also showed at the Senior Bowl that he could be a special teams standout along with his ability on defense.
Discipline is something that Bullocks will need to show at the next level. He has problems biting on double moves and play action fakes. He likes to gamble for the big play and it could result in a big play the other way. Some teams project him to free safety because of his talent, but he will need more work diagnosing plays so that he does not get himself out of position.
Bullocks is a very good safety prospect, and his versatility gives teams some flexibility with how they use his talents. He has been on a steady climb since the season ended, having a great showing at the Senior Bowl and combine. He grades out as a second rounder, but could hear his name called at the end of the first round.
