Charles Spencer OG 6'5 352 Pitt
By: Robert Davis
After two seasons as a reserve defensive tackle, Spencer moved over to offensive guard and paid immediate dividends. After a standout junior season at left guard, he played left tackle as a senior.
Spencer is a mountain of a man. He is absolutely huge, and plays like it. He can dominate at the point of attack. Once he locks on to a defender, it is over. He also plays with an attitude on the field. He does not give up on plays and will drive players to the ground. Spencer is also a very good athlete for a player with his dimensions. He moves well for a guard and can adjust on the move. He may bring some versatility as well, having played both guard and tackle at Pitt.
There is still some work for Spencer to do. He is a bit raw on the offensive line because he only has two seasons of experience on that side of the ball. On top of that, he has only played guard for one season, and tackle for one season. He may lack the quickness to play tackle in the NFL, and projects more as a guard.
Spencer has all the talent to be a standout guard. With more work, his natural athleticism may allow him to play at tackle, so he might bring more upside than the other top guard prospects. Spencer looks like a solid Day One prospect, and has a good shot at landing in the second round.
