Brandon Browner DB Oregon St. 6’4 221
By: Robert Davis

In just two years at Oregon St., Browner made a name for himself as one of the top corners in the Pac-10. He was named Pac-10 defensive freshman of the year in 2003, after intercepting 6 passes and totaling 43 tackles. His playmaking numbers took a hit as a sophomore, but teams didn’t throw his way as often. He didn’t intercept a pass, but he finished with 44 tackles and 9 pass breakups.

Browner is an excellent athlete at his size. He plays very physical and can take receivers out of the play at the line of scrimmage. He displays the ability to make plays on the ball when it’s in the air with his height and jumping ability.

Browner may not have the foot speed to play corner in the NFL. With his lack of experience, he is raw in his technique at corner, and can get beat when turned around by the faster wide receivers. Despite playing corner for his two years in college, he may have to play safety in the NFL.

I love Browner’s upside at safety in the NFL. With his size, physical nature, athleticism, and cover skills, he could be a similar player to Sean Taylor in the NFL. He has that type of natural talent. At corner, I believe he will struggle with smaller wide receivers, but as a safety, his time at corner gives him well above average cover ability. He’ll need some time to learn to play in deep coverage, but he possesses a great deal of upside at the next level. He should hear his name called at some point in the second round of the draft.
